Quite possibly the best thing ever.
I’m considering slicing it very thin and making veggie banh mi or Cuban sandwiches with it.

Where does one buy smoked tofu?
The mental image of me trying to smoke tofu in my kitchen is too comical for me to think that anyone makes smoked tofu at home.
I bought mine at Whole Foods. I’d never had it until I went to this salad joint near my office for lunch one day and just fell in love with the stuff. It’s got a very firm texture, and the smokiness is fabulous.
Now, to try to find Vietnamese baguettes.
Well, that’s cool! I have to head to Union-busting Foods tomorrow for my smoked salmon, and I’ll add a look for the smoked tofu.
Soy Deli brand, incidentally, makes a “Savory Baked Tofu” that is a decent substitute for smoked tofu in a pinch.
Vietnamese baguettes? Why, Ai Hoa or maybe 99 Ranch, at least here in L.A.
I’d be really interested in the recipe for (and pictures of) the Cuban sandwiches that you make. Never had one back when I ate meat (didn’t even know they existed). But I’d love to try a veggie version.
