    I remain astounded by the size of your cat. I thought Keaton was large, but geez. I think she must have some Maine Coon in her.

    Holy. Freakin. Cow. That is seriously the largest cat I have ever seen. Lovely cat, but YEESH, she’s bigger than the dog! :)

    To be fair, the dog is on the small side.

    But thank you for making me feel guilty! I’m going to get yelled at by the vet because I can’t get her to lose weight even though I feed her as little as I can get away with. And by “get away with,” I mean, “not have to hear Zuzu screaming at me to fill the bowls more than twice a day.”

    Have you managed to escape the prescription diet cat food so far? Our late Tashi got that for several years (the vet called it “Atkins for cats” which is apparently a good thing when you’re an obligate carnivore like a cat). The fun part was that Boris loved it, but it made him throw up, so we had to keep mixing it with other stuff.

    Good times, good times.

    Oh, and a Maine Coon is not a fat cat — it’s a BIG cat. A friend of mine from Alaska swore that their old Maine Coon brought down a bald eagle.

    Well, Miss Thing is indeed a fat cat. About 18 pounds’ worth. Zuzu is, surprisingly, only 3 or so pounds lighter, but looks a lot smaller. Junebug’s 27 pounds, IIRC, but a lot longer in the torso than the cats.

    i have *never* seen a cat that large before, in my life! isn’t it roughly the same size as your dog?

    it’s also pretty amazing that your cat and dog get along so well. i’ve actually never seen that, either.
