Many people are only thin because they are constantly denying themselves food. Some thin people feel superior because they don't give into this "urge". And they are outraged that not everyone denies themselves in the same manner. I am still in college and therefore am among younger, thinner people all the time, and I know many of them look at me and probably feel bad for me, because they honestly think a fat girl cannot be happy, or sexual (or they think the opposite, that I must be easy), or in a long term functional relationship, or confident; but I am all of those things I totally agree with the Puritanical comment. That would certainly explain the amount of fear (in addition to loathing) people bring to the subject. Whatever the case, its pretty sickening to watch.
