Ah, why didn't I see this post earlier, when I still had squash and kale? Now I only have kale. But the squash went into a quite-nice pot of refrigerator vegetable soup, into which went a quarter of a buttercup squash, most of an onion, some garlic, the remains of two celery bunches, corn cut from the one-and-a-half ears that nobody ate last night, half a bag of mixed veg from Trader Joe's, the tiny little accessory ear that was attached to one of the ears that nobody ate last night, a can of chopped tomatoes, a can of black beans, two baby bok choy and (yes!) the pulp of the two roasted Seckel pears that nobody ate two nights ago. I meant to put rice in there, but, on looking in the pot, there wasn't room.

This looks delicious. Looking ahead a month or two, I'm generally not a huge fan of cold weather, but it does seem propitious to attempt making some tasty soups.

And note to self: use more kale.
